ABOUT QUYNH

I am a Vietnamese-American ceramist born and raised in Denver, Colorado. I started my ceramics journey in high school where for 3 years I focused mainly on hand building with clay and learning all the basics. In November 2022 I started teaching at Friend Assembly studio in the Stanley Marketplace, where I have continued to learn about the all things clay. I have since then become the studio manager, alongside running After Hours, where the cowboy hats were created. My family has a ranch down in El Rito, New Mexico where the Western wear theme of ceramics was inspired from. A lot of the current collections take a large inspiration not only from the Western wear found in New Mexico, but the rich history of ceramics in New Mexico and the South Western ceramics.

After Hours Ceramics is a fusion of Vietnamese American heritage and Southwestern inspiration. Drawing inspiration from my family’s ranch in El Rito, New Mexico, my creations  echo the rugged allure of Western wear. While New Mexico’s Western aesthetics play a significant role, I also pay homage to the storied history of ceramics in the region and the distinctive Southwestern ceramics tradition.

Although I specialize in handbuilding, I also find joy in the art of throwing on the wheel. What makes my ceramics unique is the infusion of fun and whimsy into every piece. I love adding playful details to transform otherwise ordinary forms into joyful expressions of art. Leveraging my Vietnamese heritage, incorporate distinct glaze designs that weave tales of tradition and culture into each creation. Explore a world where tradition meets innovation, where each ceramic piece is a celebration of heritage and artistic expression. Welcome to my ceramic journey.
